April 5, 2008 2008-09 School Year Enrollment begins Jan. 26, 2008 Open House is 1/26/08 from 9am - 1 pm. Top Elementary Students Involved in International Day of Peace  As in previous years, MPA Elementary II (4th, 5th & 6th graders) will be taking an active role in the Rockford area International Day of Peace Celebration. The event is Friday, September 21 at the Keeling- Puri Peace Plaza www.keeling-puri-peaceplaza.com Below is a recap of MPA's involvement in last year's event written by our students.
Peace Day, 2006-- written by Elem. II students, David & Teaguen On September 21 Elementary II went to the Peace Plaza and we will tell you how it went. The day started off cold and blustery. After a while it became warmer. At first we didn’t have very many people at our peace message tent. While we were at our tent we helped students write peace messages. When the kids were done we flew the peace messages on a string. After we flew the peace doves, which impressed a lot of people, we got many more people in our tent. Then at eleven fifteen it was time for our performance. As soon as we started our show the wind flared up. Amidst the flags cracking in the wind and the wind making static sounds in the microphone our sound was not too good. When our performance was over we had some pizza for lunch. Then at one o’clock we went back to school. As you can deduce, September 21 was a cold yet fun day! Giant Doves Debut-- written by Elem II students, Elise & Haley On the 18th of September Elementary II attended the Rockford City Council meeting. The two of us spoke to Mayor Morrissey and the City Council members about the Proclamation of Peace Day on the 21st of September in Rockford. Our class took one of two giant peace doves with us that night to Rockford’s City Hall. We constructed the doves with the help of many relatives of the students. We are very grateful that we got this opportunity to go to the City Hall and speak. Mystery Night Dinner & Student Art Auction, Sat. April 5, '08 Sat.
